Daniel singing

Daniel LOVES to sing. I decided to capture the moment while we were in the bathtub last night. He’s choice of song was “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”. I love how sincere and dedicated to the moment he is…he makes me smile!

The sweetest thing I’ve seen all day…

I had a moment tonight that caused me to stop in my path and give God some praise and then fall on my knees and ask Him to bless it…all at the same time!  Our normal bedtime routine is bath, story, Bible story, pray and sing.  When the boys adoption papers came, Sean and I gave them a picture Bible.  We LOVE it.  It has all the stories from the Old and New Testament and it is written in very friendly kid language.  But what is even better is that also keeps some phrases and verses almost exactly as they are in the NIV.

Anyway, (sorry for the little commercial) we had finished our routine and both boys asked to read their Bibles.  I said yes and left them on the couch.  I left the room for a minute and when I came back I found this…and this…..Oh!  My heart just about melted on the spot.  I stood back so they wouldn’t see me and I listened to them talk.  It was precious to hear them talking about the stories and my first thought was…”they’re having their first Bible study with each other!”  My prayers at that moment were that the Spirit would sear this into their little hearts and that the hunger for His Word would never cease.  I pray that they will always yearn to be in His Word and that they will continue to love studying it alone and together…as brothers.

“Love the Lord your God with al your heart and with all your sould and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on you gates.”  Deuteronomy 6:5-9

I get it now…Father in Heaven, I praise You for how You are alive and active in my precious sons’ lives.  I pray that they will never cease looking to You in all they do and say.”

Here’s a little video of our time together…

A great first day!

We are all home and I can say that we all had a GREAT first day of school.  I was a little nervous about getting us all at the right places on time but we made it.  Zachary’s teacher is wonderful and she loves those kids!  She emailed me during their naptime and filled me in on his day up to that point.  He was all smiles when I picked him up!  :)   His first words after getting hugs from mommy were “let’s go get Daniel!”  He was ready to see his brother and daddy.

I had a good first day with my class.  I have 19 and they are sweet.  I had some of the kids in 1st grade and they were excited to be with me again.  I think that’s a good sign! :)   I’m excited about working with the kids.  I’m tired but happy…

Enjoy some pictures from this morning…1st day of school!

Zachary ready to tackle the world!  He was so cute with his backpack!  Notice the new tennis shoes that “make me run fast, mommy!”

Another sweet boy ready to take on the world!  He is also showing off his “fast shoes”!  It’s amazing that both boys were smiling…it was EARLY!

I’m a proud mommy! :)

A great weekend

I know the weekend isn’t over yet but it’s been so good up to now. Friday night I worked late and Sean fixed chicken stir fry and egg rolls for dinner.(The egg rolls were from SAM’S!) The boys went to bed early and so did Mommy. :) Saturday we all slept a little later than normal (7:30!) and had a good morning of playing. After naptime it was time for haircuts and then playtime at McDonald’s. It was so fun…the boys had the play area all to themselves. Of course we had to eat there! After bath time and bedtime, Sean and I got to watch a movie and get to bed early….two nights in a row! :) YEAH! So far everyone has woken up in very sweet moods so hopefully are sweet natured weekend will continue.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Yes! We’re still here!

Have no fear…we are still around!  This has been my first full week back to work and it’s been so busy.  I’ve been in workshops or working at school everyday until 5:00.  The boys have been getting up earlier and getting to daycare/babysitter before 7:30 each morning.  The greatest blessing is that they are happy and Daniel LOVES his “school”.  :)   Yeah!  Zachary got to meet his teacher and see his classroom yesterday.  He had a good time.  Sean got to take him (I was having my own “Meet and Greet” and didn’t get to go) and he said that Zachary spent some time helping Mrs. Murray clean up.  He walked around and found the things she had missed…paper clips, scraps of paper, blocks.  She smiled and said, “I know who to ask to help clean up!”  Sean told her that this was the same child that picked up paper clips and handed them to the judge during our adoption proceedings.  Sweet boy.

I promise to do a better job updating.  School starts Monday and I think I have everying ready.  Pray for me…I’m going to have to be extra organzed this year…at school and home.  We will be leaving the house by 6:30 every morning.  That means that all lunches must be made the night before and the boys bags are packed.  As far as school goes, I’m not team teaching this year so everything is up to me.  I’m praying that the Lord will send me a Room Mom that can come to school and help me with making copies and whatever else I need.

It’s time to go home…I need to see my boys and get some sleep! :)

See you next summer!

It’s hard to believe that it’s here…the end of summer.  Well…not exactly.  The temperatures outside say that’s it’s still very much summer and will feel like summer well into October.  The calendar says something else…school starts.  I’m officially back to work on Monday and our relaxed summer schedule comes to an end.  It’s back to early bedtimes and even earlier wake up times.  Zachary, Daniel and I will be leaving the house by 6:30 every morning so that we can all get to school on time.  We’ll be spending quiet, calm evenings at home and craving our time together on the weekends.  In some ways I’m going to miss our summer schedule but in some ways I’m ready for a more consistant routine.  I know the boys are ready! :)

So what does the next few months hold for our family?  Daniel’s birthday, Sean’s birthday, Zachary’s birthday, football games, visit to the pumpkin patch with Jonathan, soccer games(I think Zachary might start playing with our YMCA), and much more!  It’s going to be a great fall!

We are done!

YEAH!!! We are finished painting and the house is 90% back to normal. The kitchen still has the paint supplies scattered around but everything else is back in it’s place. The pictures and curtains are hung and I’m loving it! There are a few more little things to do and then I can take “after pictures”. I hope to post them sometimes tomorrow afternoon so check back soon!

so….many…sore…muscles…

We painted for about 5-6 hours last night and got quite a bit done. Thanks for our precious friends, we had 8 adults working last night! We were able to get the entry, kitchen, hall and dining room done! We have to finish the living room today. It’s the hardest job because of 10 ft ceilings and we have some weird angles. Then my friend Erin and I get to redecorate! My parents are gracious to take the boys for the rest of the weekend so that we can work straight through and get done.

The greatest miracle of last night was that 3 little people slept through all the painting craziness. God blessed all 3 boys (Zachary, Daniel and our friend Jonathan) with deep sleep that hit them quickly and we didn’t hear from our 2 boys until morning. It was 1:00 a.m. before we were in bed so the craziness lasted for a good while. I hope Jonathan did well for Michael and Shanna! :)

I better get up. I need to get ready for another day of fun and take the boys to Nana and Pawpaw’s house.

There will be pictures coming soon!

Never say never…

I should have learrned by now that it’s not a good idea to use the word never when refering to things that I will “never” do. Or better yet, “never do again.” I mentioned in this blog a little over a year ago that I was never going to paint another wall in this house. I love the look of a freshly painted room but I am not one for manual labor. I know that surprises you! Ha! The older I get the more high maintance I am becoming. Well, this weekend we are painting the rest of our house. That includes the entry hall, kitchen, living/dining room, hall and possibly our bathroom. We have wonderful and precious friends that are coming over tonight to help with the taping and covering of everything. If we get done with that at a decent hour we might start painting tonight. The boys are going to my parents house for Saturday/Sunday so we can paint and hopefully get the house put back together before Monday.

I’ll post before and after pictures as soon as I have some ready.

Once everything is painted and pretty, we’re going to redo the floors. Yeah for home improvement projects! Pray for us…it’s going to be a long weekend! :)
