I had a moment tonight that caused me to stop in my path and give God some praise and then fall on my knees and ask Him to bless it…all at the same time! Our normal bedtime routine is bath, story, Bible story, pray and sing. When the boys adoption papers came, Sean and I gave them a picture Bible. We LOVE it. It has all the stories from the Old and New Testament and it is written in very friendly kid language. But what is even better is that also keeps some phrases and verses almost exactly as they are in the NIV.
Anyway, (sorry for the little commercial) we had finished our routine and both boys asked to read their Bibles. I said yes and left them on the couch. I left the room for a minute and when I came back I found this…
and this…..
Oh! My heart just about melted on the spot. I stood back so they wouldn’t see me and I listened to them talk. It was precious to hear them talking about the stories and my first thought was…”they’re having their first Bible study with each other!” My prayers at that moment were that the Spirit would sear this into their little hearts and that the hunger for His Word would never cease. I pray that they will always yearn to be in His Word and that they will continue to love studying it alone and together…as brothers.
“Love the Lord your God with al your heart and with all your sould and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on you gates.” Deuteronomy 6:5-9
I get it now…Father in Heaven, I praise You for how You are alive and active in my precious sons’ lives. I pray that they will never cease looking to You in all they do and say.”
Here’s a little video of our time together…
